Going out of 2016 with a bang by celebrating my sweetie’s birthday at Ocean Prime in Philadelphia last night. Ocean Prime is located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. This would actually be my second time eating here. The first time I ate here was when my Sister was celebrating her birthday back in September. I pretty much ordered the same thing I had the first time because YES it was that good.
You can pretty much guess the kind of restaurant it is based on the name, which is seafood. If seafood isn’t your thing, there are alternative choices on the menu as well such as prime steaks and other good eats.
When it comes to fine dining, I am an equal opportunist despite the restaurant being pricey (hint: $$$$). The price range is between $31 to $50 for dinner. I enjoyed the vibe in this upscale restaurant with it’s sophisticated decor and great ambiance that just added more depth to my dining experience. The dress code looks to be business casual and since it’s a casual upscale restaurant, I would expect this.
Can I skip over dinner and talk about how good my blueberry lemon cheesecake was? Oh my goodness! one bite was like a dream come true. The crust was made of graham crackers with blueberry syrup on the side topped with some blueberries. I would definitely recommend the blueberry lemon cheesecake as a choice of dessert if your not sure what to get. Also the Ocean Prime house salad was tasty as well, which had the fresh romaine lettuce, chopped up apples, topped with walnuts, goat cheese and sherry mustard vinaigrette dressing. My sweetie decided to treat himself for his birthday and go for the twin lobster tails with drawn butter topped with asparagus. The black truffled mac & cheese is a great side dish to add to any of the entrees.
Ocean Prime also does happy hour from Monday through Fridays from 4:30PM to 6:30PM. Overall, I would definitely recommend eating here if you happen to visit Philly and looking for a great upscale place to eat out with friends.
