Everyone kept saying that New York Fashion Week is back, but this year they meant it. The eight-day schedule hasn’t seen this many back-to-back shows and parties in nearly three years. There were also more than a few noteworthy firsts, from Marni showing under the Manhattan Bridge to Fendi hosting a special show celebrating the 25th anniversary of its baguette bag.
Tommy Hilfiger returned to New York City with a show held against the Manhattan skyline. Even Bottega Veneta was getting into the New York groove with launching Intrecciato version of the strand bookstore tote. With its new intrecciato version of the strand bookstore tote, Bottega Veneta is also getting into the New York spirit.
This season, New York Fashion Week drew a lot of stars from all over the world because it was so busy. International designers like Fendi and Marni even held shows. New York is showing that mini bags are still popular in the city and that maxi skirts are still popular downtown.
As expected, the street style looks to match the exciting energy of the week, with metallic knee-high boots, the inflated cat eye LOEWE sunglasses, and every single color, pattern, and print you can imagine – worn all at once of course.
What I wore
Green & Purple Street Style
This season, pleating isn’t just for the prim and proper, and it’a not just for skirts! This all-green coordinated pleated ensemble is a breezy. move-with-your style that’ll offer a sense of elegant ease.
Monochrome dressing is one of the season’s biggest trends due to its ease and sharpness. Pairing pieces in the same print, texture, or color creates a streamlined effect that looks extremely low effort. A surprise color combination like the purple flats can effortlessly sophisticate your look in seconds.
The simple yet sophisticated ensemble houses almost all of the week’s major trends: color clashing, pleated dress or skirts, and statement pieces. The bright lime green bag works great to toughen up the plated ladylike style with some chunky chain details. Perfect for giving simple shapes added edge, you don’t need to veer too far from your favorite designs with this bit of added detail.
The clashing color combo is a great way to revive your wardrobe and make a fashion statement that creates bold focal points. The secret to rocking it flawlessly is sticking to simple shades and choosing shades that are the direct opposites on the color wheel.
Mixed Prints
This outfit is a combination of playful prints and ultra-feminine silhouettes with masculine subtleties. The ballet flats complete this outfit by keeping it in the perfect line between formal and casual.
Inspired by the glamour of the 90’s, this polka dot sleeved shirt and floral maxi dress combination is for the woman who wants to be noticed. When it comes to styling, you can never go wrong with classic black and white, but try amping things up for this season with punchy bright floral patterns.
When the weather gets chilly, maxi skirts can act as additional coverage for your legs. Maxi skirts are reasonless and work for multiple dress codes. So many words to say about one thing, but in summary, handbags are essential. Besides, useful or not, it’s undoubtedly a very versatile accessory you can use to play up your outfit effortlessly.
The purple mini bag from Telfar adds a flair to the floral skirt without going all out with color. I think it also adds some texture to the look with its iconic lettering logo. Purple bags are less common, so they can add an exciting pop of color to your outfit! Purple is rich, pretty, regal, sophisticated, feminine color. Definitely try a adding a purple bag sometime! It can really make you feel ladylike.
Color Blocking: Fuchsia & Purple
Spring may seem so far away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate some bright colors into your wardrobe right now.
Purple and pink aren’t often paired together in women’s fashion; however, you can combine these two pretty shades to create chic looks that will rid you of those winter blues. Just like this look, clothing in luxurious fabrics of purple and pink can be very elegant and upscale looking.
This outfit features a pink bishop sleeved blouse paired with a purple mermaid skirt. The look was paired with matchy, slightly winged, rectangular, black sunglasses for an added retro feel. The look was completed with pump heels in a shade pink that matched the blouse. My cute mini bag added from Cise added to the nostalgic Barbie doll feel when teamed up with the black acetate frame and lenses of the sunglasses.

If I had to pick one color that has been spotted all over the Spring 2022 runways, it would be purple. On the other hand, love it or hate it, hot pink is a color trend that isn’t going anywhere. From fluorescent pink to fuchsia, this bold, aggressive color has become deeply embedded in the fashion world as a shorthand for all things, both feminine and femme.
When paired together, purple paired with pink can be fashionable and feminine, just like this outfit that adds darker colors to add some contrast. We usually aim to balance out a vibrant ensemble with some neutral pieces, such as a black blazer or white sneakers, but the baby pink mini bag does the trick. And with such a powerful message statement on the bag, this outfit screams BOLD!
