It was an honor to be invited to the CAAFD emerging designer showcase during New York Fashion Week. In case you’re wondering what exactly is CAAFD and what is their connection to fashion week, let me break it down and give you a brief history…….CAAFD (Council of Inspiring American Fashion Designers) is an organization founded by key pioneers associated in the fashion industry. The primary goal is to allow emerging designers to get their foot in the door within the industry by giving them opportunity to showcase their collections in the United States.
At the showcase, there were three talented emergent brands which were Ruth Zabetta, Yufash and Sania Maskatiya. Each individual brand had their own unique flavor. Ruth Zabetta is known for her cultural influence in her designs as she was raised in Spain and Dominican Republic. Yufash is known for the vision of being the confident and powerful women of the world with all garments made exclusively in England. Lastly, Sania Maskatiya is best known for her versatile specialized prints, textile design and unique colors. Here are my favorites from each collection.
Ruth Zabetta’s collection consisted of beautiful neutrals walking down the runway (See photos below)
I’m loving the colorful playful patterns at Yufash showcase collection (See photos below).
Which emerging designer collection is your favorite?
